Additional Programs


Leadership Programs has been an IBM partner for over 10 years offering UA students a chance to work in the technology industry with one of the world's leading firms. UA students work as IBM Co-Ops testing and helping develop enterprise level software on-site with IBM employees, while simultaneously developing their leadership skills through Leadership Programs.

Time Commitment: 
20 hour/week  

Beginning Pay Rate: 
$15/hour with potential for merit-based increases

Courses Offered

Below is a list of courses offered through Leadership Programs and the College of Education. These courses have no pre-requisites and are open to students across disciplines.

EDL 297a: Professional Development and Leadership - 2 credits (Spring) 
This class is designed for graduating students of all majors. This class focuses on providing students the opportunity to develop and clarify their goals while encouraging them to reach out to professionals and resources for their own development.

EDL 393a: Leadership Internship - 1 to 3 credits (Fall and Spring)
Students who are interested in earning credit for their internship experience with a department on campus can sign up for internship credit through Leadership Programs.

Note: Students will need to contact the department directly to register for their internship. Registration occurs the semester before the internship begins.

EDL 297a: Event Planning - 2 credits (Fall)
This class is designed for students who are interested in developing a professional presentation and participating in the National Collegiate Leadership Conference in the Spring semester.

EDL 297a: Challenge Course Facilitation - 1 credit (Spring)
This course is open to any student who is interested in learning how to safely and effectively facilitate challenge course experiences including low ropes and high ropes courses. Students will develop facilitation skills and techniques for working with groups.

EDL 396a: Engaged Learning through Service and Social Change - 3 credits (Spring) 
This class is designed for students to begin their leadership journey and open to all students and majors. The course will focus on developing leadership strengths and skills while allowing students to apply their learning through experiential activities and group coursework.

The College of Education also offers a Minor in Leadership Studies and Practice for students who are interested.

Leadership On Demand

Leadership On Demand offers a number of unique opportunities for leadership development in your organization. Leadership on Demand staff can help you identify the needs and objectives of your group and put together a workshop or workshop series that will help enhance your organization’s leadership potential.

Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) is a Leadership Honorary for undergraduate students at the University of Arizona who are juniors or seniors ranked in the top 35% of their class for their school or college. The University of Arizona ODK Circle is committed to serving the campus community and recognizing the efforts of professionals and community members in their leadership and dedication to the University and its members.


  • To bring together members of the faculty and student body of the institution on a basis of mutual interest and understanding.
  • To recognize and encourage achievement in the Five Phases of Campus Life.

Five Phases of Campus Life:

  • Athletics
  • Campus or Community Service, Social and Religious Activities, and Campus Government
  • Creative and Performing Arts

Member Requirements:

  • Must be an undergraduate student with a junior or senior class standing.
  • ​​Must be ranked in the top 35% of their class.

Once accepted, to remain an active member of ODK and receive the benefits of membership, including being able to receive an Honor Cord for Graduation, you must:

  •  Attend 50% of meetings for the semester (approximately 1 meeting per month)
  • Attend 3 ODK sponsored events per semester (1 social, 1 service, 1 your choice)
  • Complete 5 hours of community service per semester

The Edge

The Edge is a professional development program brought to you by Career Services and Leadership Programs. It is designed to help give you the edge when seeking internships and jobs. Through self-assessment, professional development workshops, networking and action planning opportunities the Edge will help you develop the skills you need to get Real-World Ready.

What will I do:

  • Participate in eight career and leadership development workshops to prepare you for future jobs and internships - $15 value that is free for program participants.
  • Complete the StrengthsFinder Assessment (trademark) to determine your unique strengths.
  • Participate in the Career Fair prepared to speak with employers.
  • Develop an Action Plan to map out your ongoing engagement activities.

What will I get:

  • Certificate of completion.
  • Opportunity to build critical job readiness skills.
  • Early exclusive access to employers at the Career Fair.
  • Opportunity to network with employers at the Career Fair Diversity Mixer.
  • Advice and support from leadership and career development professionals.
  • Access to Career Services Peer Interns for supplemental support on resume writing, job search strategies, and interview preparation.

Available Sessions

The Edge offers three sessions and will begin the week of February 1st and end the first week of April. Edge sessions are held in the Career Services Workshop Room and take place on the following days and times:

  • Tuesdays - 12:30pm to 1:30pm (All Major Welcome)
  • Tuesdays - 5pm to 6pm (STEM Major Only)
  • Wednesdays - 12pm to 1pm (All Major Welcome)
